Barbados
Barbados is an island of fantastic contrasts, epitomised by the difference between the calm, Caribbean waters of the west coast and the energetic waters of the Atlantic in the east.
Barbados boasts small picturesque villages and larger, bustling towns dotted with elegant colonial buildings and pastel coloured houses. The north and east coasts are much less developed than the south or the west, with country lanes snaking between fields of sugar cane, and small villages basking in the Caribbean sunshine. The south, on the other hand offers excellent nightlife, with colourful bars and restaurants swaying to the beats of Reggae, Salsa and Merengue until the early hours of the morning.
Temperatures in the 80s year round ensure beautiful beach days and warm evenings, best enjoyed with an ice cold beer or cocktail and a local delicacy such as cou-cou, lobster or flying fish. And if you can tear yourself away from the idyllic beaches, why not treat yourself to a catamaran cruise up the west coast where you can swim with turtles, or even a day trip to the paradise island of the Grenadines?
