Tobacco & alcoholic drinks for persons of 17 years of age or older:
1) Travellers entering from non-EU countries:
a) 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars or 250gr of tobacco
b) 2 lit of still table wine plus 1 lit of spirits or strong liqueurs over 22% vol or 2 lit of fortified or sparkling wine or other liqueurs
c) 60cc of perfume & 250cc of eau de toilette
d) Other goods including gifts and souvenirs up to MTL 94 in value
2) Travellers entering from EU countries* (goods obtained duty & tax paid - guidance levels):
a) 800 cigarettes, 400 cigarillos, 200 cigars & 1 kg of tobacco
b) 10 lit of spirits, 20 lit of fortified wine, 90 lit of wine (of which, a max of 60 lit of sparkling wine) & 110 lit of beer* restrictions may be retained on tobacco products imported from new EU member countries, details should be checked prior to travel

The following details relate to holders of adult normal passports (requirements for children may be different), if any other type of passport or travel document is held, entry requirements should be checked with the relevant embassy or consulate
Required, but NOT by the following:
1) Holders of a National Identity Card issued to nationals of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain & Switzerland
2) Holders of national passports expired within 5 years issued to nationals of Austria, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Portugal Spain & Switzerland
3) Holders of national passports expired within 1 year issued to nationals of Germany
Passports must be valid for duration of stay in Malta
The following DO NOT require a visa:
1) Nationals of Malta
2) For stays up to 3 months by:
a) Citizens of United Kingdom
b) Citizens of Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Rep, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong (S.A.R. passport holders only), Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland Rep, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea (South), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, Uruguay, Vatican City & Venezuela
